Seeking a Sponsor? A New Service May Help

CMAChicago is introducing a new resource to help newcomers find temporary sponsors if their homegroup meeting(s) have limited or no sponsorship options available.

Both in-person and online meetings have observed that there are meetings which there are not enough sponsors present at the meeting vs. the need for newcomers seeking either a sponsor or someone to help them on a temporary basis while finding a permanent sponsor.

A Temporary Sponsor would have the same role and responsibility as traditionally understood and practiced in the general recovery community, e.g. an acting sponsor that guides addicts while they seek a permanent sponsor, or when an addict's permanent sponsor is no longer available to him/her/they/them. This may involve check-in phone calls, step work, or reading the Big Book, but what the role ends up being is entirely up to the temporary sponsor and the newcomer to define (including time duration).
